WASH Diseases
WASH interventions aim to reduce the transmission of water, sanitation and hygiene related diseases that are classified into four major categories :
1. Water-borne & food- borne or enteric diseases; infections spread through contaminated drinking water or food. 2. Water-washed diseases; due to the lack of proper sanitation and hygiene. 3. Water-based diseases: infections transmitted through an aquatic invertebrate organism. 4. Water-related vector-borne diseases; transmitted by insects that depend on water for their propagation.
WASH as part of Public Health join forces with community health and first aid (CBHFA) and community epidemic and pandemic preparedness programs (CP3) to reduce the ocurrence of WASH related diseases .
